The programme

• We begin our walking tour of the city - founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century BC - by visiting one of its oldest squares: Plaza de San Antonio, the preferred dwelling place of the bourgeoisie in the 17th century, which is enhanced by the elegant buildings and Baroque façade of the San Antonio church. We then move on to Plaza de Mina, the latter built in the 14th century and once home to the gardens of the San Francisco Monastery.

• While we walk towards the Tavira Tower, we are charmed by the elegance of the 18th and 19th-century palaces, which include the home of Manuel de Falla, the famous 20th-century composer.

• After this memorable experience, we reach the Plaza de las Flores and take the opportunity to walk through the maze of characteristic narrow streets that criss-cross the city.

• The magic continues with a visit to see the exterior of the famous Cathedral. We stop to admire the magnificence of this church - constructed with gold and silver brought from the New World - its golden dome towering over the Baroque-style building, which is enhanced with neoclassic elements. Begun in 1722, the Cathedral recalls the golden age of Cádiz, when the city controlled a large part of Spanish commerce with the Americas.

• Finally we take time to discover the Pópulo district, one of the oldest in the city, before stopping at Plaza San Juan de Dios, the municipal square, which features numerous, characteristic bars.
