The programme

Everything starts with a trip to the Snaefellsjokull National Park, home to some of Iceland's most famous landscapes: here, you'll find yourself beneath the Snæffels volcano with its ice cap, and then at the entrance to the cave: it's breathtaking!
With your expert guide, you'll pass through the mouth of the cavern into the upper section, where the white of the ice is replaced by unique lava formations, before being amazed by the colors and life forms of a microcosm created 8000 years ago by the volcano.
As you continue with confident strides, your guide will tell you all about the geology, history and legends of this mysterious cave. Next, you'll come to some steps: you're on the threshold of the section that is deepest underground, hidden for thousands of years.
Once you get to the bottom, it's lights out: you'll discover the thrill of the total darkness at the center of the earth.

Good to know

This is one of the most popular experiences so book early.
Wear sneakers and a windbreaker: the route may have some slippery sections and temperatures will hover around 0°.
At the entrance to the cave, you'll receive a helmet with a head torch to enable you to enjoy the experience to the full.
Minimum age: 10 years.
