An incredible adventure to the “heart” of the Langjökull glacier, the second largest ice cap in Iceland. The programme

The start is red-hot: the hot waterfall of Hraunfossar, heated by the underground lava, and that of Barnafoss. Ask your local guide why it's called the “children's falls”.
Now, imagine the warmth of a green oasis just a few steps from the glacier. It's called Húsafell and it has one rule: guests are sacred. The ideal place for a restorative lunch!
From now on, the temperatures are set to plummet. On a specially-equipped truck, you'll make your way through the snow of the Langjökull glacier, an enormous expanse spanning more than 900 square kilometers.
Now, it's up to you to conquer its 'heart', as you walk through the ice tunnel that explores its depths in a winding maze of snow corridors and blue walls that enclose a history that goes back centuries, with an expert guide who will reveal everything to you - even the mystery of the black ice...
When you come out, nothing will ever be the same again. Neither the view of the glacier from above, as you head up the road to Kaldidalur, the 'valley of cold', nor the naturalistic richness of the Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where water and volcanic heat come together to create life.

Good to know

This is one of the most popular experiences so book early.
Wear suitable clothing to protect you from the low temperatures, such as long thermal trousers and wool clothes, a padded and windproof jacket, scarf, gloves, hood and hiking shoes.
The time it takes to cross the glacier depends on the weather conditions and how much snow there is.
In poor weather or where the roads are impassable, the experience may be canceled.
