The programme

We get on a local bus and reach the Nasali jetty on the delta of river Rewa, which cuts through the thick mangrove forest with winding streams that meet up in the sea.
A longboat awaits us at the jetty - a typical local boat that will take us on a pleasant cruise along the river during which we will admire the emerald green vegetation and characteristic fishing villages.
We reach the village of Nailili, where the friendly locals put garlands around our necks and welcome us with a typical Fiji song and ceremony.
In this small settlement, we discover the most authentic Fiji lifestyle thanks to the cheerful children who attend the local missionary school, the simple style of the buildings and the kindness of the locals.
The priest of the imposing Catholic church invites us in. The building was erected by French missionaries in the early 20th century at the centre of a meadow. It has green doors and two quadrangular bell-towers.
We have the pleasure of attending a performance of the choir, whose voices resonate between the stone walls and vaults soaring beyond the istoriato-style windows reaching the blue Fiji sky.

We recommend that you respect village traditions: women in particular should be dressed appropriately and cover their shoulders and knees.
