The programme

Our excursion starts with Topkapi Palace, built over an ancient olive grove at the extremity of the first hill where the Bosphorus joins the Golden Horn and they both flow into the Sea of Marmara.
The immense Palace, built in 1453 at the request of Mehmed II following the capture of Constantinople, was the residence of the Sultans until 1853. It was only in 1924 that the Palace, by then abandoned and almost in ruins, was turned into a Museum.
Our guide takes us to the 4 Treasure rooms, the richest and most beautiful collection in the world where the so-called “Spoonmaker’s Diamond” with its 86 karats leaves us truly speechless!
Once back on our coach, we reach the second and last stop on our tour - the Grand Bazaar. * We explore this maze of alleys and aisles at our own leisure, guided by our sensations, bright colours and refined displays of goods.

Good to know

The covered section of the Bazaar is closed on Sundays, on October 29th and during religious festivities.
The Grand Bazaar and Spice Markets are closed on national holidays and during religious festivities.
The visit to the Topkapi Palace Harem is not included in the tour.
Some parts of the palace may be temporarily closed to the public for restoration.
Topkapi palace is closed until 1 pm during religious festivities.
