The programme

Leaving the port, by bus we take a provincial road along which we can admire the typical rural landscape of central Vietnam.
Within an hour we arrive in Hoi An; our first stop is Thanh Ha pottery village, located 3km west of the city. During the 16th and 17th centuries, the village became famous for its pottery production, as the bricks, roof tiles and floor tiles of Hoi An's old palaces came from Than Ha.
Once in Hoi An on board the boat, along the Thu Bon River, we visit the small museum of history and culture of the city. The museum is located where a temple dedicated to Quan Cong once stood, and its halls illustrate the foundation, development and decline of the ancient city of Hoi An.
Our next stop is the Assembly Hall of the Fujian Chinese Congregation, established in 1697 by Fujian Chinese merchants who settled in Hoi An as a meeting place for congregation members. The temple features a unique architectural style, rich in artistic decorations and magnificent statues.
Our itinerary then continues with a visit to the covered Japanese bridge; built in 1593 by the Japanese community of Hoi An to connect their neighborhood to the Chinese one across the river. The bridge was covered by a roof to provide shelter from the sun and rain and still today features decorations faithful to the original Japanese design, despite the course of the centuries (external visit due to maintainance works).
Leaving the bridge, we visit one of the old houses of Hoi An, Nguyen Tran Ancient House or Ky House, built almost two centuries ago by a Vietnamese merchant with an architectural style that denotes Chinese and Japanese influences.
From here, we head to a handicraft workshop, where we can find and admire traditional handicrafts including ceramics, woodwork, embroidery works, paper lanterns, conical hats, weaving works, and much more other.
Once the visit is over, we return to the ship.
